Outline and History
However the worst incident for many members during MMRT’s history came in December 1988 when PanAm Flight 103 blew up over Lockerbie killing 270 people and scattering bodies and belongings over a wide area. As the local team, Moffat MRT spent many days searching in the Lockerbie area. Those involved in the early days encountered very harrowing experiences.
Following on from the main search, the team was additionally involved for a number of weekends searching for evidence for use in the official investigation.
