Moffat Mountain Rescue Team - Call Outs & Incidents

Since the team was founded in 1969, we have been involved in over 550 incidents

Although we are a mountain rescue team, we attend a wide variety of call outs in urban areas as well as the hills.

These call outs include:

  • Searching for missing people, in the hills and urban areas
  • Climbing incidents
  • Aircraft crashes - search for individuals, as well as for important evidence
  • Aiding police searches, urban and rural
  • Riverside searches
  • Suicide Recoveries
The most historic incident attended by the team was December 1988, when PanAm Flight 103 blew up over Lockerbie. Team members involved in the early days encountered some very harrowing experiences.
