Rescue of Injured Mountain Biker from Mabie Forest

Fri, 30th May 2025

At 13:54 on Tuesday 27th May Moffat MRT were asked by Police Scotland to assist in the rescue of a mountain biker with an ankle injury in Mabie Forest near Dumfries.

11 team members responded to the callout alongside the Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) coming to the biker’s aid.

The team were able to assist the SAS to access forestry tracks in order to reach a location close to the casualty where they were joined by our team Landrover. From there team members and the SAS crew were made their way on foot to the casualty’s location.

The biker’s injuries were assessed and treated by the Ambulance crew whilst the team gathered equipment for extraction. The casualty was safely packaged into a casualty bag and stretcher before being evacuated to the waiting Ambulance for further assessment and treatment before being conveyed to hospital.

We wish them all the best in their recovery.
