Winter Training 2022 Part 2

Mon, 14th Mar 2022

The second half of the team went for winter training last weekend in the Cairngorms. Team members practiced both personal and team winter skills with avalanche rescue skills. Once again the weather provided varied conditions over the two days (the wind again!). Thanks to our very accommodating resuscitation manikin Annie for allowing us to practice avalanche burial location and rescue skills again! Thanks also to Bill Dallas for leading the training. Another good training weekend to keep our volunteer members’ skills up to date. There is still time this year for further winter conditions – Moffat has previously received snow in April and May.

Please remember if heading out onto the hills in winter to carry all the necessary winter equipment, including avalanche transceivers, ice axe and crampons. See our page on Preparation for Heading into the Hills.
