Callout to Hart Fell Spa
Mon, 29th Oct 2018At 1500 on 9 October 2018 Police Scotland called on the services of Moffat Mountain Rescue Team to rescue a walker in the Moffat Hills.
Two walkers had set off to climb onto Hart Fell from Hart Fell Spa. Above the spa one of the walkers had a seizure on steep ground and they were unable to move up or down. The team deployed a “hasty” team onto the hill with the help of a local farmer’s all terrain vehicle and
were able to reach the walkers.
Additional team members started carrying ropes and technical rescue equipment onto the hill in case a steep ground stretcher recovery became necessary. Fortunately the hasty team were able to reach the walkers and move them off the steep ground. The casualty was
transported back off the hill in the farmer’s all terrain vehicle to be assessed by a waiting ambulance.
The remainder of the team escorted the casualties companion off the hill. The team deployed 11 team members and the rescue was completed by 1830 in the evening. The team wish the casualty a speedy recovery. Pictures are available.
