Coulter Fell Callout

Sun, 29th Nov 2020

Following an earlier call to assist Scottish Ambulance Service in to extract a mountain biker who had injured his ankle in Mabie Forest (fortunately the ambulance crew managed to extract the casualty as we arrived on scene), later in the afternoon the team was called to assist Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service to rescue a walker who had suffered an ankle injury near the Summit of Coulter Fell. The team deployed 12 team members along with an off road ambulance and Land Rover.

Working alongside the Scottish Ambulance SORT team and local estate staff, the team deployed team members to the casualty location followed by the SAS Wolverine off-road vehicle. The team’s landrover brought more mountain rescue personnel up the hill in case a stretcher carry was required.

After splinting the ankle and administering pain relief the casualty was transferred to the Wolverine vehicle and guided off the hill by the estate gamekeeper.

The team guided the walkers friends off the hill as darkness set in.
