Two callouts for MMRT

Sat, 12th Nov 2022

A busy day for the Moffat Team with 2 callouts!

At 14:21 Ambulance Control requested the assistance of Moffat Mountain Rescue Team to assist a mountain biker with a shoulder injury in Ae Forest. On arrival at the scene the Scottish Ambulance Service had extracted the casualty whilst the team were standing by.

Whilst the team were de-briefing a second call was received from Police Scotland at 16:00 to ask for assistance in the search for a walker who had become disoriented on the hill between Muirkirk and Sanquhar and had telephoned to ask for help. Police Scotland were able to successfully use ‘Phone Find’ technology to accurately locate the walker and, with the help of Strathclyde Police Mountain Rescue team, extract them with the aid of a 4×4 vehicle.

Moffat MRT were stood down at 18:54.

If you find yourself in need of help on the hills, phone 999, ask first for the Police, then Mountain Rescue.
